sign that says 'tornado shelter' When you receive an alert for a tornado watch, this is when you act immediately and go to a safe place.

With advancements in technology, we are alerted of tornadoes right away. If you own a smartphone, our phones alert us when there is a tornado watch and a tornado warning. A tornado watch is the weather channel alerting us that they are watching the weather, that could possibly turn into a tornado. A tornado warning is to let us know that a tornado is in our area, and it is close by.

When you receive an alert for a tornado watch, this is when you act immediately and go to a safe place. Weather.govgives this advice, “Move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building. Avoid windows. If in a mobile home, a vehicle, or outdoors, move to the closest substantial shelter and protect yourself from flying debris.”
